Ajwain Khurasani:
Ajwain Khurasani (Henbane) is used in traditional herbal medicine for diseases of the bones, toothache, rheumatism, asthma, cough, central nervous system (CNS), as well as for stomach pain. Ajwain Khurasani also can be used as an analgesic, sedative, and narcotic in some traditions. It alleviates the pain in the head including pain in the half head or headaches. The leaves of Henbane are used to prepare a tincture that has the traits of soothing the skin and reduces the inflammation caused by gout and sciatica and additionally reduces the pain. Patients who just have any ocular surgery can apply the paste of Henbane leaves on the inflamed areas in order to reduce the inflammation around the eyes. The nature of Ajwain Khurasani directly impacts the nerve cells, reduces stomach pain, and keeps the muscles relaxing.
The plant of Henbane is used in the treatment of cough, asthma, motion sickness, tremor in old age or paralysis as a pre-operative medication. Due to the dry nature of Henbane, it reduces the mucous secretions, as well as saliva and other fluids in the human body that helps indigestion.
The seeds have acrid, anaesthetic, anodyne, anthelmintic, antiinflammatory, antispasmodic, astringent, bitter, digestive, mild diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, hypnotic, intoxicating , mydriatic, narcotic, sedative, stimulant and thermogenic properties. It is also recommended for insomnia, catarrh, heavy menstrual bleeding, gout and as a general pain reliever and is specifically used for pain affecting the urinary tract, especially when due to kidney stones. It also relieves pain in cystitis. Its sedative and antispasmodic effect makes it a valuable treatment for the symptoms of Parkinsons disease, relieving tremor and rigidity during the early stages of the disease.
