DESCRIPTION
Shows acrid, anodyne, antibacterial, antifungal, anthelmintic, astringent and digestive activities. Is a tonic for heart, expels wind, is antispasmodic, diuretic and emmenagogue. It exhibits significant antiinflammatory and styptic activity. Main use has been described in leucorrhoea and for controlling bleeding in menorrhagia and piles. Its use in menorrhagia may be due to its action on capillaries. Also useful in metrorrhagia, chronic dysentery with mucus, skin eruptions and haemoptysis.
Oil is used to treat skin diseases and its local application is also recommended in rheumatism.
Recommended Dosage: 1 to 3 g powder of dried stamens.
Contraindication: This herb is not recommended during pregnancy.
